The Emergency Boiler Repair Services We Provide
AHPS provides fast, professional boiler repair services for homes and rental properties across Hertfordshire.
If your boiler has stopped working, is leaking, losing pressure, showing an error code, or leaving you without heating or hot water, our local heating engineers can help. We’ll assess the fault, explain what’s happening in plain English, and complete the repair where it’s safe and practical to do so.
No Heating Or Hot Water
Losing heating or hot water can quickly become stressful, especially during colder weather or in a busy household.
Our engineers can inspect your boiler, heating controls, thermostat, pressure, valves, and wider system to identify the cause. Once we know what’s wrong, we’ll explain the repair options clearly before carrying out any work.
Boiler Leaks
A leaking boiler should always be checked quickly. Even a small leak can point to a failed seal, valve, pipe connection, or internal component.
We’ll look for the source of the leak, check whether the boiler is safe to use, and advise on the most sensible repair. If the leak has affected surrounding pipework or heating components, we can review that too.
Low Boiler Pressure
Low boiler pressure can stop your heating and hot water from working properly. It may be caused by a leak, recently bled radiators, a faulty pressure relief valve, or an issue within the heating system.
Our team can check the pressure, look for signs of water loss, and repair the underlying issue where possible.
Boiler Error Codes & Lockouts
If your boiler is showing an error code or keeps locking out, it’s usually trying to protect itself from a fault.
We can investigate the issue, identify what the code means, and check the relevant parts of the system. This may include ignition faults, pressure problems, condensate pipe issues, circulation faults, or component failure.
Our Emergency Boiler Repair Process
AHPS Maintenance keeps the emergency boiler repair process straightforward from the moment you contact us. Our local heating engineers will ask the right questions, assess the issue, and explain what needs to happen before any repair work begins. If the boiler can be fixed safely, we’ll aim to get your heating and hot water working again as quickly as possible. If replacement is the better option, we’ll explain why and guide you towards the right next step.
Step 1: Call Us Or Request A Callback
Start by calling AHPS or requesting a callback from our team.
Tell us what’s happening with your boiler, including any fault codes, leaks, strange noises, pressure problems, or loss of heating and hot water. This helps us understand the urgency and decide the best way to help.
Step 2: We Assess The Fault & Explain Your Repair Options
Our heating engineer will inspect your boiler, controls, pipework, pressure, and heating system where needed. The aim is to find the cause of the problem, not just deal with the symptom.
You’ll be told what the fault is, what repair may be needed, and whether the boiler is safe to continue using. We’ll also let you know if parts, further investigation, or a replacement boiler may be required.
Step 3: We Carry Out The Boiler Repair
This may involve fixing a leak, resolving pressure issues, replacing faulty components, clearing a condensate issue, repairing controls, or restoring heating and hot water. We’ll work carefully and keep disruption to a minimum.
We’ll check heating and hot water performance, confirm the issue has been resolved, and advise on any next steps. If your boiler is becoming unreliable, we may recommend servicing, further maintenance, or a new boiler quote.

Getting started with your new boiler installation doesn’t need to be complicated. AHPS has built a simple online boiler quote tool to help you take the first step quickly.

What Our Customers Say
We’re known locally for turning up on time and completing work to a high standard. Here’s what our customers think:
I would thoroughly recommend Archway Heating they are very professional and competitively priced
I have to say the standard of workmanship was exceptional. Once the work was completed, you genuinely could not tell that such major plumbing work had taken place. Everything was reinstated perfectly and with great attention to detail.
They even arranged for a professional carpet fitter to refit the carpets that had been lifted to access the pipework under the floorboards, and a carpenter was brought in to refit all the boxing and woodwork that had to be removed during the installation. The finish throughout was excellent.
What also stood out was their ability to come up with practical and creative solutions whenever unexpected issues arose during the project. Instead of taking shortcuts, they carefully worked through problems and found solutions that maintained both the quality of the work and the appearance of the property.
This is actually the second time I’ve used them, having previously worked with Steve and Kiani on a similar project at another property around two years ago. Based on both experiences, I can confidently say they are highly professional, reliable, and take real pride in the quality of their work.
Overall, an excellent job from start to finish, and I would not hesitate to recommend them.
Over flowing utility room sink due to blocked pipe, AHP came very quickly and rectified the issue.
The team are very professional, and take great care carrying out the work. Would 100% recommend Archway Plumbing and heating for any of your issues.
Thanks again
We also appreciated the additional knowledge and advice Kiani provided around our water supply and what boiler-work was realistically feasible for our house before agreeing to start.
One of the reasons we went with AHPS was because they coordinated all the additional trades we needed for the various jobs round the house (plumbing, plastering and electrics), so we only had to liaise with Kiani which was fantastic. Really made the process easier and less stressful for us (especially as we changed our minds on things more than once!).
Pricing was very reasonable for the great job Kiani and Sam the plasterer did, and they kept us updated throughout each day with what had been completed and if any problems were discovered.
Overall, we’re extremely pleased with the quality of work and the level of communication from AHPS as we were on a tight deadline with a little one on the way and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and trustworthy tradespeople. We’re hoping to use them again soon for sorting out our upstairs bathroom.
Their workmanship is absolutely first class. They fitted a new bath and toilet and the work was carried out to perfection. The workmen always arrived on time and always texted to say they were on their way.
Thoroughly recommended
After buying my first home a few issues arrived, and I found APHS online with great recommendations. I didn’t hesitate and got booked in and now I won’t go anywhere else.
The team at APHS are very reliable, professional, tidy and friendly.
The team always go above and beyond and give the best level or care to their customers.
Certainly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend APHS
Thanks again.
Agreed to rectify it but 6 months later still not complete and no communication leaving me to get the works rectified by others.
Excellent service all round, kept me informed of arrival time, and carried out the work efficiently. I would definitely use them again.
Good workmanship and competitively priced.
Will use again
Highly recommend!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A few days after the work was complete, a pipe in the bathroom burst as it was so old… I called Steve and he was with me within 4 hours. Thankfully, Steve had previously explained how they had re plumbed upstairs and I was able to isolate the bathroom to prevent any significant damage.
Overall, I’m really impressed, delighted with the workmanship and will definitely use AHPS again for future work - of which there will be plenty. All of this for a reasonable rate too!
He attended my boiler issue on Friday, diagnosed the fault, obtained the parts and came back first thing Tuesday to fix. All was working within two hours.
Steve always has great communication, is friendly, explains everything well and is very reasonably priced.
I would not hesitate to recommend Steve and his company again and am now using him to service my boiler.
Thank you Steve.
Really pleased with the service and how pleasant, personable and polite Kiani was.
Highly recommend this company.
The whole team were professional, friendly and easy to talk to throughout the job. The radiators look fantastic and the quality of their work is clear to see. I already have them booked for boiler servicing and a few more jobs later this year. Highly recommend Archway Heating and Plumbing for anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy company.
Steve arrived on time and was friendly and approachable. He quickly assessed the issue with my radiator and explained the necessary repairs in a clear and concise manner. His expertise was evident, and I felt reassured that my radiator was in good hands.
The repair process was efficient, and Steve worked diligently to ensure everything was fixed properly. He took great care to minimize any disruption and left the area clean and tidy once he was done. I appreciated his attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
What really stood out to me was Steve's dedication to customer satisfaction. He took the time to answer all my questions and provided helpful tips for maintaining my radiator in the future. It's clear that he genuinely cares about his clients and their needs.
I highly recommend Archway Heating and Plumbing Services for any plumbing or radiator repairs. Their professionalism, reliability, and exceptional service make them my go-to choice for all my plumbing needs. I will certainly be calling them again in the future!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer emergency boiler repair?
Yes. AHPS Maintenance provides emergency boiler repair across Hertfordshire and nearby areas, subject to availability. If your boiler has stopped working, is leaking, losing pressure, or leaving you without heating or hot water, contact our team and we’ll advise on the next step.
What should I do if my boiler stops working?
First, check whether your thermostat, programmer, fuse spur, and boiler pressure look normal. If the boiler still won’t work, or you’re unsure what’s wrong, contact a qualified heating engineer. Do not remove the boiler casing or attempt internal repairs yourself. Boiler repairs should always be handled by a trained professional.
Is a leaking boiler an emergency?
A leaking boiler should be checked quickly. Even a small leak can point to a problem with a seal, valve, pipe connection, or internal component. If water is close to electrics, the leak is getting worse, or you’re worried the boiler is unsafe, turn the boiler off if safe to do so and call AHPS for urgent advice.
Can you repair a boiler with no heating or hot water?
Yes, in many cases we can repair boilers that have stopped producing heating or hot water. The issue may be linked to pressure, ignition, controls, valves, circulation, or an internal fault. Our engineer will inspect the boiler and explain what needs to happen before any repair work begins.
Why does my boiler keep losing pressure?
A boiler can lose pressure because of a leak, recently bled radiators, a faulty pressure relief valve, expansion vessel issues, or problems elsewhere in the heating system. If the pressure keeps dropping after being topped up, it’s best to get it checked. Repeated pressure loss usually means there’s an underlying fault.
What does it mean if my boiler keeps locking out?
A boiler lockout means the boiler has shut itself down after detecting a fault. This is a safety feature. Common causes include low pressure, ignition problems, overheating, blocked condensate pipes, circulation faults, or component failure. Our heating engineers can diagnose the issue and advise on the right repair.
Can you fix boiler error codes?
Yes. If your boiler is showing an error code, our engineers can investigate the cause and explain what the code means. The repair will depend on the boiler make, model, and the fault detected. If possible, let us know the error code when you contact us, as this can help us understand the issue sooner.
Should I turn my boiler off if there’s a problem?
If you notice a leak, smell gas, see signs of burning, or feel the boiler may be unsafe, turn it off if it’s safe to do so and seek professional advice. If you smell gas, turn off the gas at the meter, open windows, avoid using electrical switches, leave the property, and contact the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
Can an emergency boiler repair be completed on the same visit?
Sometimes, yes. Many boiler faults can be repaired on the first visit if the issue is straightforward and the required parts are available. If specialist parts are needed, we’ll explain what’s required, provide clear next steps, and advise whether the boiler is safe to use in the meantime.
How do I know if my boiler should be repaired or replaced?
A repair may be suitable if the fault is minor, parts are available, and the boiler is generally reliable. Replacement may be worth considering if your boiler is old, inefficient, breaking down often, expensive to repair, or unsafe. If a new boiler is the better option, AHPS can guide you through the next step using our online boiler quote tool.
